5th-grade student
A 5th-grade student in a center-based special education program was introduced to Talkido in her speech therapy sessions. She has multiple educational disabilities, including a Speech Language Impairment.
Young students with significant communication challenges often struggle to express their needs and interact with others. The SLP was looking for a tool that would:
Why does Talkido matter?
Students with language impairments often need multi-sensory tools and interventions to stay engaged. Talkido helps bridge the gap between motivation and learning.
Expressive and receptive vocabulary.
Staying motivated during therapy sessions.
Sustaining joint attention on language tasks
The SLP used Talkido in creative ways:
Vocabulary words were taped to Talkido cards, allowing the student to check her receptive understanding and practice expressive labels.
The student personalized a card with a message to surprise classroom staff, increasing her ownership and enthusiasm.
Talkido was used as a reinforcer, encouraging participation.
Increases Joint Attention Span
The student sustained focus longer than in typical sessions.
Improved Engagement
Talkido became a motivator, making learning more interactive.
Encouraged Expression
She took initiative to create her own message, boosting confidence.
"Talkido was a game-changer for this student. She typically struggles with motivation, but the interactive features kept her engaged and excited to participate."
